Service Projects

These are a little delayed, but here are some pics from our Back To School Event.  Pay no attention to the time stamp.  This really was from 2007.

On January 27th, we gathered with some local Circle K clubs to help put labels on boxes for Second Harvest.  I don’t have the exact numbers of how many clubs represented or how many total people we had, but it was a very cool time!  Afterwards we sponsored a social at a pub prior to heading over to the Admiral’s Game for the K-Family Night.

Check out our photos from the day:

A bunch of us helped out the Boys and Girl’s Club with wrapping presents that had been donated to their organization.  It was a great event and a great time.  The Key Clubers even came to help us out.

On April 1st a couple of us headed down to the Modjeska Youth Theater to help with their fundraiser. They played the movie “Wizard of Oz” and highly encouraged everyone attending to participate by singing along and dressing up in costume. We had three Kiwanians and two guests serving beer, wine, and water. The evening was wicked awesome!

The Halloween Party at LaCausa on Saturday, October 29, 2005 was a blast with over 10 kids to hang out with. We carved pumpkins, played outside, frosted halloween cut-out sugar cookies, and had a scrumptious lunch prepared by the Kiwanis Club members.

It’s that time of year again when we start planning “Delivering Fire Prevention.” As usual it will take place the week before daylight savings time, on Thursday, October 27.

It’s time for La Causa’s annual fundraiser….the Celebrity Waiters event!

This year’s event will take place Thursday, September 22nd at the Pfister Hotel. No theme has been decided yet.

As in past years, they need help with selling “chips for tips” so attendees can tip their waiters, registration, silent auction and general crowd control. Last year “celebrity waiters” included Mayor Tom Barrett, former UWM b-ball coach Bruce Pearl, and Milwaukee firefighters. It is a great event and a fabulous time! All proceeds benefit their child & family programs, including the Crisis Nursery.

It’s time for another Channel 10/36 Friends fundraising event!

From August 6-14, Channel 10/36 will again be conducting an on-air membership drive to raise funds for Milwaukee Public Television. Our club has the opportunity to send some volunteers on Monday, August 8, from 6:30-10:45 pm.

If you haven’t participated in one of these drives before, now is the time to sign up! It’s always a lot of fun!
